Agnes, aged 36, is a mother of four children, two attending elementary school and two still too young to go to school. She lives in the province of Cebu with her family, where she and her husband run a foam bed manufacturing business to support their household.
Agnes and her husband started the business in 2023 after leaving their previous jobs, using their separation pay as initial capital. They manage the business with the help of two workers who produce the finished foam beds. These are delivered twice a month to other cities and towns, particularly Negros, Bohol, and Siquijor. Each trip typically delivers up to 50 beds to minimise expenses, earning approximately £190 per delivery after deducting costs such as truck rental (£230) and meals. Materials for daily production are purchased monthly in Cebu and Mandaue.
With busy months approaching, especially from November to January, Agnes and her husband need additional funds to purchase more materials for upcoming orders. For this reason, Agnes applied for another loan from Lendwithcare partner, LAMAC, to support the business as additional working capital. She is grateful for the previous loan and plans to repay this one in 12 monthly instalments.
