Merry Chris, 27, and her husband Wendel have been blessed with one son who is currently attending primary school. Together, they run their motor parts and repair shop, which serves as their main source of income. They reside in the province of Cebu.
It has been two years since Merry Chris and her husband established their motor parts and repair shop business, where they offer motorcycle repair services and sell various parts such as tyres, interiors, brake pads, brake shoes, bearings, lubricating oil, and other related items. They rent a stall for £50 per month and pay £100 annually for the business permit to ensure smooth operations along the highway.
They employ one regular mechanic and hire an additional mechanic at weekends, which are their busiest days. The mechanics’ earnings come from the labour fees of each repaired unit. Merry Chris mentioned that their shop operates from 8am to 5pm., and their daily income mainly relies on parts sales, which reach up to £65, as all labour fees go directly to the mechanics.
They purchase motor parts from Cebu and Mandaue by placing orders in advance, with stocks delivered weekly depending on inventory needs. Recently, they have expressed the need to increase their stock, particularly tyres and other fast-moving items. For this reason, Merry Chris applied for her first loan from their partner organisation, LMAC, to meet their business needs, make their shop more attractive, and continue providing excellent service to their customers. The loan will be repaid in twelve monthly instalments, and they hope it will help their business grow in the future. Merry Chris applied for the loan to purchase additional motorcycle parts for display and sale in their motor parts and repair shop.
