The CAF Bouwedeou Group consists of 17 women with an average age of 50. Together they support 25 children, ten of whom are in school. Based a few kilometres from Lomé, the members work as seamstresses and traders selling cereals such as maize and beans, as well as food and general grocery items.
Aboubakari Aladjon, 45, has been running a shop for 10 years, selling foodstuffs such as rice, oil, sugar, tomato products, and fruit juices. She is married to a driver, and together they support their children and share household expenses. In the past, her limited capital meant she could not always meet customer demand. With her share of the loan, Aladjon plans to purchase basic necessities such as rice, oil, sugar, and pasta to expand her shop, increase sales, and grow her profits. She intends to reinvest part of her earnings into the business and use another part to pay her children’s school fees.
The CAF Bouwedeou Group will use the loan to increase their stock of essential goods, particularly cereals such as maize, rice, and beans, thereby strengthening their activities and improving their livelihoods.
