Rwanda
Dina is 39 years old and lives with her husband and three school-going children. She and her family are based in an urban area of the southern province of Rwanda.
To support household costs, Dina runs a wholesale groceries shop, selling items such as cleaning products, farming supplies, cooking oils, and other non-perishable foods. Her husband works as a truck driver.
Dina started her business five years ago with a small capital. Today, her shop supplies goods to other retail stores and sells rice, sugar, salt, beans, maize flour, juice, cooking oil, biscuits, detergents, soaps, body lotions, and other staples. Her business provides employment for herself and two permanent staff who assist customers. It has also enabled her to send her children to school and meet household needs.
With high local demand, Dina applied for a loan to purchase bulk stock, including rice, sugar, salt, cooking oil, beans, maize flour, biscuits, juice, soaps, detergents, and other daily groceries. Part of the loan will cover transport costs, as she sources items from cities such as Rubavu and Kigali. This investment will allow her to meet customer needs and expand her business further to support her family.
