Jennel is 34 years old and lives with her partner Christopher in the province of Cebu. Although they do not yet have children, they hope to start a family in the future. Before starting her own business, Jennel worked hard with the goal of becoming a fishmonger in their town.
Today, Jennel and Christopher run the business together.
Jennel began her fishmonger business six years ago with no capital. Initially, she sourced fish from a supplier and returned any unsold items. Over time, she saved enough money to secure her own stall in the market and gradually build up some capital, allowing her business to grow.
She opens her stall around 9am in the morning, and remains open up to 7pm. Together with Christopher, she sources fish from various suppliers, purchasing around 50–60 kilograms daily. On weekdays, they typically sell around 30 kilograms of assorted fish each day, while at weekends they often sell out completely.
Jennel applied for a loan from Lendwithcare to increase capital for her fishmonger business. She plans to use the funds to buy fish in larger volumes and offer a wider variety, attracting more customers. She is hopeful the business will continue to grow and provide greater stability for her and Christopher.
