Ecuador
Nayeli Maily is a 19-year-old young entrepreneur who lives with her parents in the province of Carchi, northern Ecuador. From an early age, Nayeli learned about farm work from her parents. She would help them clean the fields, sow seeds, and tend to the crops.
With this valuable knowledge, Nayeli began her own business. With the support of her parents, who gave her a plot of land, she planted her first seeds. For the past year, she has been growing onions and cucumbers on one hectare of land.
To ensure a quality harvest, Nayeli employs ten people to help with fertilising the plants and maintaining the farm. Thanks to this teamwork, she harvests around 240 sacks of onions and 200 bags of cucumbers annually.
Her products are sold in the city market, where there is strong demand for use in salads and various local dishes.
Nayeli applied for a loan to purchase fertilisers, agricultural supplies, and to allocate wages for workers fertilising the crops.
Through this support, Nayeli will be able to buy the necessary supplies to fertilise her crops on time and produce healthy harvests. This will improve her income and create employment opportunities for more people on her farm.
