Suphaphon

Suphaphon is a 59-year-old local farmer living in a rural area of Surin province, Thailand. She is married and lives with her husband and adult child, who also contributes to the household income by working as a labourer. Both Suphaphon and her husband rely on cultivating rice and raising cattle for sale.

Farming has been part of Suphaphon’s life since childhood. When she grew up, her family gifted her rice paddy fields, which she has depended on ever since. However, due to rising expenses and inflation in recent years, her farming income was insufficient to cover costs.

In 2020, Suphaphon decided to diversify by venturing into cattle raising. Drawing on her farming background, she has steadily grown her farm and earned a good profit from selling local cattle to livestock traders.

Currently, Suphaphon wishes to expand her herd by breeding more calves, as she presently only has adult cattle. By adding breeding cows and calves, she aims to increase her livestock and ensure a steady supply for customers.

To realise this goal, she applied for a loan to purchase a mother cow and calf, as well as feed and other essential farming supplies. Suphaphon believes this investment will help grow her herd, increase her income, and provide greater financial security for her family.
