Luis Froilan

Luis is 21 and lives in the tropical region of Imbabura in the north of Ecuador. He is a farmer and for the past two years has been growing crops. He started his own business because he wanted to generate his own income. He has been supported by his parents who gave him a plot of land for growing his own produce, and since then he has continued working every day looking after his orchard.

Luis has always been able to have the support of his parents, as he was given a plot of land when he started his business. Now he is growing tree tomatoes. Over the years he has learned valuable skills about how to look after these fruits both from his parents and from the workshops in his community. This experience has helped him to build up his orchard with his hard work so that he harvests 342 sacks of tree tomatoes every year.

He sells the fruit at the markets in Quito and Otavalo.

So that he can increase his income, Luis has requested a loan, which he plans to invests by buying supplies of fertiliser which he will use for all his fruit trees. This investment will make sure that his fruits will be ready for harvesting in four months' time.
