Zambia
Luzyalo 1106 is a group based in Livingstone, Zambia’s tourism capital. The group comprises of five women who are involved with different aspects of business, such as groceries and gardening . The women used their previous loans to restock their businesses and make significant profits.
Nalucha is representing the members of the group, sharing her experience as a grocery business owner and a trader who sells beans, rice and dry fish. She is a determined businesswoman who has been trading for eight years. In order to grow, Nalucha is very disciplined financially and, with the aid of her previous loan, she managed to buy groceries to expand her business.
Nalucha has requested a loan so that she can buy more groceries and improve her business portfolio further. She intends to build a shop when her profit levels allow it, so that she can have more stock and build her clientele.
The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Zambia, employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups that share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Zambia all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
