Guillermo is a 60-year-old farmer residing in the city of Mira, in northern Ecuador. From a young age, Guillermo grew up surrounded by the countryside, where he learnt all the skills he now masters. For the past thirteen years, he has worked diligently in his orchard, cultivating avocados.
Over the years, Guillermo has successfully increased the number of avocado saplings in his orchard, boosting production and harvesting high-quality fruits. He produces approximately 140 sacks of avocados annually, which he sells to traders in the city.
Guillermo has applied for a loan to enhance his orchard's productivity. He plans to use the funds to purchase agricultural supplies needed to fertilise his crops and ensure better yields.
