Essowazina 2 Women’s Empowerment Collective consists of five determined women, with an average age of 47, who are collectively responsible for 12 family dependents, three being children currently attending school. Together, they live and work 3km from Lomé. To support their community, the members work as vendors, selling yams, cereals, and other food items.
Tchgandi, 47 is a vendor who has been selling yams, cereals, and various other items in the market for over 10 years. As a widow, she bears the responsibility of household expenses and the costs of sending her children to school alone.
With this loan, she plans to purchase a large amount of goods to restock her business, which will help her accomplish her goals of satisfying more customers. With the profits she hopes to earn, she hopes to achieve her wish of building a home where she can live with her children. She plans to save half of her profits towards this, and reinvest the other half into her business.
