Pepito is 57 years old, married, and has 3 sons. One is married and two are working and living with the family. Pepito and his family reside in Bindoy, Negros Oriental.
Pepito is both a local councillor and a farmer. As a public servant, he is always ready to assist those in need within his community. He inherited farming land of approximately 3 hectares from his parents and has managed it since their passing. He cultivates various fruit trees, including bananas and coconuts, as well as crops like corn and chili. Currently, the farm uses commercial fertilisers but is transitioning to organic takakura composting technology through ongoing training. The produce is sold by the kilo at the local market, with monthly earnings ranging from P3,000 (£40) to P4,500 (£60), depending on the harvest volume and store sales. Looking ahead, Pepito plans to develop another vacant lot for growing vegetables and fruit trees, hoping to secure a better income for his family's future.
Having recently become a member of our local development partnership, FCCT, Pepito has applied for a loan to buy sweet pepper seedlings, fertiliser, piglets, and feed for his livestock, so that he can optimise his farming activities and increase his sales within the community. He will repay the loan in 8 quarterly instalments.
