Segundo Carlos

Segundo Carlos is 48 years old, married, and has a son who is in secondary school. They reside together in the San Francisco neighbourhood in the city of Mira, Ecuador. Since a young age, he learned agricultural techniques and skills from his parents. Over the past 30 years, Segundo has been working diligently on his farm, applying the knowledge he has acquired over the years. Currently, he cultivates peas and produces milk.

Over the past few years, Segundo has dedicated his efforts to maintaining his productive garden and harvesting the best crops. Annually, he harvests around 210 sacks of tender peas, all of which he sells to city traders at $25 dollars (£20) per sack of peas. His wife is dedicated to milk production. Second and his wife wake up very early in the morning to collect milk on their farm, obtaining 15 litters daily from each of their cows. They then sell it at the parish collection centres for $0.40 cents (£0.32).

Segundo wishes to increase the production of his garden and has therefore requested a loan that he will repay over 24 months with 4 payments every six months. His goal is to invest in the acquisition of fertilisers to fertilise the crops for $975 (£775.38). He will also purchase agricultural inputs to nourish the agricultural soil for $420 (£334.02) and hire fifteen people to assist in the care and fertilisation of the crops for $205 (£163). Additionally, he will allocate $900 (£716) to the purchase of two young bulls.

Please note that loan repayments will be made every six months.
