Marites is married with 4 sons. Her eldest son is studying in college and the others are in secondary school. Their family owns a "sari-sari" store (a Filipino convenience store). Her Husband has small businesses and Marites manages the store.
Marites has been a member of the FCCT Cooperative (our local development partner in the Philippines) for almost 9 years. She has applied for a new loan from FCCT to purchase sacks of rice, canned goods, soft drinks, and all general household items to sell for her small sari-sari. Her store is just beside their home in their local area. She started the business to provide additional income for their children's schooling, and to supplement the income from her husband's businesses - a small carenderia (street food cafe) and a backyard pig farm.
Through this store, she is able to earn PHP 4,000 (£56) to PHP 5000 (£70) per week, and can even allocate a small amount for savings for future use. Soon she is planning to expand her sari-sari store and their small carenderia and hopes she can create employment for others in their locality.
The loan will be used to buy additional stock for Marites' store. She will repay the loan in 12 monthly payments.
