Eleuteria is 64 years old and lives with her husband Remegio in the Philippines. Together, they have four adult children, three of whom are married and managing their own businesses, while the youngest works in maintenance for his sister's computer shop. The couple's primary source of income is a meat shop they have operated for 24 years in San Fernando, Cebu.
Eleuteria and her husband's meat and frozen goods shop offers various products such as fresh fish, chicken, and pork sourced from a neighbouring backyard farm. They purchase pork every week from local farmers and acquire fish from Cebu. To optimise costs, Eleuteria procures frozen products and whole chicken in bulk from Cebu City, adapting pork purchases based on stock availability. Their daily sales can reach up to 7,000 pesos (around £100), with higher volumes on weekends. The couple is dedicated to enhancing their business's profitability and sustainability.
Eleuteria has been a member of LAMAC (Lendwithcare's local partner in the Philippines) since 2010, maintaining a record of successful loan repayments. She decided to apply for her third loan amounting to 70,000 pesos (around £980) to expand her inventory of frozen products, whole chicken meat, fish, and pork to meet customer demand.
