Riverside 1104 Group

The Riverside 1104 group consists of five women who are responsible for supporting a total of 33 dependents and other family members. They have applied for a loan to enhance their grocery and clothing businesses. These businesses were chosen because they are profitable and can be efficiently managed with the help of family members.

Sarah, a committed member of the Riverside 1104 group, has devoted herself to her business for many years. For the past decade, she has been selling chickens to various members of the community. Growing up, Sarah was deeply involved in her parents' chicken-selling business, learning valuable skills and knowledge from them. With this experience, she has successfully managed her own business.

As a widow with three children and two orphans under her care, Sarah works tirelessly to ensure she can adequately provide for her family using her business profits. She plans on using her portion of the loan to purchase more chickens, thereby increasing her capital and boosting her sales.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Zambia employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups, each consisting of five members. These sub-groups share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Zambia all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
