Ecuador
Jhon, a 24-year-old small farmer, is currently single and does not have children. He resides with his parents and siblings in a small rural neighbourhood located in the province of Zamora in Ecuador.
About six years ago, upon reaching legal age, Jhon made the decision to venture into the coffee business. Starting with the cultivation of one hectare of organic coffee, he reinvested the profits from initial harvests to expand his operation. Currently, Jhon has successfully planted 2 hectares of organic coffee.
The land used for coffee cultivation was generously provided by his parents, who not only supported his entrepreneurial start but also imparted environmentally friendly practices. Located in an area known for producing high-quality coffee, Jhon's efforts yield approximately 35 quintals of organic coffee annually. Additionally, Jhon supplements his income by working as a day labourer on neighbouring farms.
Financially supporting his parents' household and covering his personal needs, Jhon considers paying for his education and graduating from high school as one of his significant achievements in the coffee business. With dreams of expanding his enterprise and eventually exporting his product, Jhon has requested a loan for the upcoming harvesting process. This loan will facilitate the hiring of temporary workers and the purchase of necessary agricultural inputs.
