Elizabeth, at the age of 63, has been separated from her husband since 1994 and is a mother of four children, all of whom are already married and living separately. Currently residing in the town of Cebu province, she spent 27 years working as an Overseas Filipino Worker before deciding to stay for good and transition to starting her own grocery business.
After returning home for good, Elizabeth embarked on a home-based small business following her children's college graduations. Over the past three years, she has effectively managed her sari-sari store, offering a diverse range of grocery items such as rice, coffee, powdered milk, noodles, cold drinks, energy drinks, and hygiene products like soaps, tissues, wipes, and diapers. To restock inventory, she procures supplies every other day from the mall and market, utilizing a motorcycle for transportation with associated fare costs.
As a member of Lamac since 2022, Elizabeth has successfully repaid four previous loans that served as working capital for her business. Eager for growth, she now has requested her 5th loan to purchase additional items, aiming to enhance her store's appeal and attract more customers. Elizabeth remains optimistic about the continual growth of her business, aspiring to eventually secure a rent-to-own house.
