Joseph is 54 years old married man with 7 children, 3 of them are studying in high school, and the others are in primary school. He is a potato farmer from Busasamana region, which is favorable for potato farming. His wife is also a farmer who grows bananas and maize.
Joseph has been a farmer for the last 25 years focusing on growing potatoes for the last 10 years. As a farmer it did not take him a long time to realise that potatoes are the preferred crop of farmers to grow in the region since the soil is very good for growing potatoes and they are in high demand on the market. Through his farming business he has created work for 15 temporary workers. He has applied for a loan to invest in buying high-quality potato seeds, fertilizer and to pay the salary of his 15 temporary workers plus the 6 additional workers he will employ during the harvesting season. After the investment in his farming, he expects to harvest around 13 tons of potatoes per crop which will generate a good income that will help him to repay his loan and cover his family's everyday needs. He is confident that he will be able to repay the loan in full and on-time. Joseph hopes the improved profit in his business will help him to look after his family properly and allow him to pay for his children’s education up to the university level. He will pay back the loan amount within 24 months.
