Folly Kanko Djagoe is a widow and mother four children. She is 52 years old. She lives in Lom-Nava, a suburb of the town of Atakpame in central Togo. Her children are all adults ranging in age from 26 to 37. Since 1990 she has had a small business selling kitchen and cooking utensils, including large and small bowls, plates of different sizes, and ice cube holders. She has already received and repaid one loan from the microfinance institution WAGES over a period of nine months. She is now seeking a second loan for 300,000 West African francs and hopes to repay in monthly instalments over a slightly longer period of one year. The loan is to purchase new stock. She has one full time employee and sells her products from a stall in the local market.
