Mr. Dionesio is 42 years old, he is one of the councillors in their village called Kabatbatan which is in the town of Dumanjug. He is married to Dayril and they have three children who are in education; 3rd-year college, grades 11 and 12. For many years, the couple has been focused on their farming business to deal with their financial needs.
Mr. Dionesio’s wife Dayril personally sells their crops in the town's public market in order to generate extra income, she also buys crops from other farmers to sell at the town’s public market. Using their own motorcycle, Dionesio travels to remote areas to buy vegetables, coconuts, bananas, and other crops. They live in a village that is very far from the town centre which is why having their own transport helps a lot to minimize their travel expenses. The day the loan officer visited Dionesio, he was busy transporting bananas from different areas and bringing these to his house. He has bought 1,000 kilos of unripe bananas and paid the farmer a fair price per kilo. He will sell these in bulk to his regular buyer from the city who picks up the items at his house.
Over a year ago, a friend of Dionesio proposed a buy-back scheme project for growing mushrooms. He decided to take part in this project so he and his wife underwent thorough training on the process of growing mushrooms. He has built two structures where he will grow the mushrooms and bought the materials needed like mushroom spawn, grow bags, substrate (the growing medium), a water spray bottle and a thermometer. He already succeeded in many harvests of mushrooms and find this business profitable. This business ceased operation when Dionesio was involved in a motorcycle accident. It took him about five months to recover from the accident. This time, he plans to grow mushrooms again to earn extra income.
Mr. Dionesio applied for his second loan from the MFI Lamac in order to buy the materials needed for growing mushrooms like grow bags, mushroom spawn, substrate and other materials needed. He also plans to cement the flooring in one of the nurseries where he grows mushrooms. Part of the loan will also be used as additional working capital to buy more crops to sell such as bananas, coconuts, etc. Dionesio's first loan was financed by Lendwithcare and he used the loan to buy farming inputs to help ensure the quality harvest of crops. Dionesio wants to increase his sales to continue supporting his children in their schooling and cover their household needs. He will repay the loan over a period of twelve monthly instalments.
