Andres is a 60-year-old married man. His wife is Roberta and they have two children. His eldest son is already married and living separately while his daughter is single and working. For many years, the couple's source of income come from hog raising. Previously, Andres was also engaged in buying-and-selling business to generate more income. Right now, he earns a monthly honorarium being one of the village councillor in their place.
It has been 30 years since Andres engaged in his hog-raising business. His wife is helping him in taking care of their pigs especially if he is not around. The pigsties are found not too far from their house. The income from the business allowed the couple to send their son to finish college while their daughter finished high school.
At present, Andres now has eleven piglets to feed. The expected date to sell the pigs will be the first week of July. Previously, Andres sold fully grown pigs to meat stall owners in the market. But now that he availed the new program specifically designed for the hog raisers offered by the MFI Lamac where he is a member, he will deliver the pigs to Virginia Farms Incorporation. Lamac MPC in partnership with Virginia, provides a complete value chain to hog raisers. Virginia will be the market and provides technical assistance to the hog grower. Lamac MPC provides agri-technicians to assist the farmer in terms of finances and monitor the development of their pigs. Thru the coop market centralization, the coop will be the one to provide the feeds needed until harvest time. Andres will not receive cash from the loan he applied for. The money will be saved in the institution and will be withdrawn only in times to buy feeds, vitamins or medicines. He only hopes that each pig will gain the market weight so that can achieve higher sales. The buying price per kilo live weight is 165 pesos (£2.47). The new program of the coop helps Andres to finance his business and continue earning an income to have the means to deal with their living costs. He will repay the loan over the period of twelve months and in lump sum repayment.
Please note that this loan will be made on one lump-sum repayment, see the repayment schedule below for more details.
