Darwin Vladimir is 26, married and has a child. He lives in the community of Peribuela which is in the canton of Cotacachi, in Imbabura province in northern Ecuador. He has been arable farming for the past eight years, growing beans and corn on four hectares of land. He harvests twice a year and sells his produce on Thursdays at the local wholesale market.
Darwin Vladimir is requesting a loan of US$ 3,000.00 (£2,459.18) which he will repay over 30 months, in five six-monthly instalments. With the money he plans to buy agricultural supplies for US$ 800.00 (£655.78), organic fertiliser for US$ 1,027.00 (£841.96) and to pay US$ 510.00 (£418.11) for contract labour to help him with the cultivation. He will also use US$ 180.00 (£147.57) to buy sticks to support his crops and US$ 483.00 (£395.99) for wire and other supplies.
