Thailand
Latdawan ia 25 years old and lives with her younger sister in a rural part of Sisaket province in Thailand. To earn a living and support themselves, both Latdawan and her sister work as rubber tappers and have recently opened a clothing shop to offer another income stream.
Like many low-income families, Latdawan and her sister experienced financial difficulty during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were both unable to work on the rubber tapping farm during this time, and they are thankful that their parents supported them during this time to help them start a small clothing shop in front of their home. They are proud of their small business because they focus on selling pre-owned clothing. When she can, Latdawan also operates a small stall at a local market to increase their sales.
The clothing shop helped Latdawan and her sister to ease their financial struggles during COVID-19, and in recent months they have started to increase their customer numbers. To invest in the business and boost sales, Latdawan requested a loan to purchase new stock and improve their display area. This will include buying new clothing racks and tables.
