Please note: due to the insecurity in the West Bank there are significant risks of delayed repayments or default on this loan. We have written a blog giving full detail of how we are working with our partner to support people's livelihoods. You can find the blog in the About Us section of the Lendwithcare website. Hassan is 35 years old. He lives with his wife and five children in Yatta city located near Hebron governance.
The cost of living is very high in Palestine, particularly in the West Bank, so seven years ago Hassan decided to start his own business raising livestock so he could support his family. He uses their milk to produce dairy products such as white cheese, yoghurt and butter and he also fattens young sheep and then sells them at a higher prices. He estimates that his monthly income is around 650 US Dollars at the moment. He is very experienced in rearing sheep and working as a dairy farmer and has been working in this area for more than 15 years. Hassan wants to grow his business and to do this, he would like to increase the number of sheep he has. He plans to buy 10 sheep, each one costing around 500 US Dollars, and to buy good quality feed for them. This will cost around 2,000 US Dollars. To make this investment in his business, he has requested a loan from Lendwithcare's local partner in Palestine, Reef Finance.
He estimates that this investment in his business will enable him to increase his income by approximately 50%, enabling him to better support his family. He will repay the loan over 30 months.
