Ulfat Bibi is a 60-year-old entrepreneur from Lahore. She lives with her husband and five children – one is in education and the others are looking for jobs. All their children are totally dependent on their parents for financial support.
Ulfat Bibi has been contributing to household expenses by selling bedsheets for the past 18 years. The bedsheets are either single, double, queen size or king size and come in a variety of prints. Doing this earns her around £52 per month. Her husband has a private job and he earns around £64 per month. Within their collective earnings, they have to cover all their household expense.
Ulfat Bibi wants to improve her sale and income. She applied to our local partner Akhuwat Foundation for a loan. She will use the loan money to make a bulk purchase of a variety of bedsheets to expand her customers base and be able to sell more bedsheets.
