Ceferena is 31 years old and married. She has two children and they are going to school. Her husband drives a public utility vehicle to earn a daily income. Ceferena runs a mini grocery shop on a rented space to generate daily sales.
For more than three years now, Ceferena's business has been progressing forward. She now employs two workers to help her with everything in the store. Her shop is open from 5 in the morning and closes at 7 in the evening. She is paying a monthly rent of 5,000 pesos (£72.78) for the space used and also renewed her annual permits and licenses for her to keep operating her business. She buys her products to sell from food panel trucks that visit their place twice a month. She sells her items on a wholesale price to give lower prices to customers who run a small-scale sari-sari store.
Having access to a loan has helped Ceferena's business to progress even more. She already repaid three loans from our local partner MFI in the Philippines called Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Recently, she applied for another larger loan and promise to repay it in eight months. She will use the loan to buy in bulk her items to sell such as chips, biscuits, candies, sodas, rice, corn, groceries, and many more. She wants to maintain the availability of her stocks to sell for her customers to keep coming back. Ceferena hopes that her business will keep growing even more so she can save enough money for the future of her children.
