Mr. Kanha Chea is a 37 year old married man currently without any children. He lives in the Morng Russey District of Battambang Province where he and his wife farm wet season rice each year as their source of income.
Mr. Kanha Chea has been a farmer for over 10 years, farming wet-season rice each year on his four-hectare paddy field and getting a harvest of 3 tons of rice per hectare which is then sold to a local middle man. In order to maintain the current crop levels he has applied for this 24-month loan, part of which will be used to purchase fertiliser, pesticide and weed-killer as well as paying for ploughing and harvesting costs, while the other part of the loan will be used to purchase one cow for rearing at his home. The cow will be purchased when young, reared for about 10 months and then sold on.
