Marivic Quindao is married to Jimel and he works in a private company. The couple lives in the village of Cantuod, Balamban in Cebu province. Living with them are her four siblings and one nephew. Marivic rented a space near the main road in the village of Buanoy where she sells various food items such as vegetables, spices, food seasonings, noodles, dried fishes and some grocery items. Her daily income definitely helped in dealing with their living expenses.
For the past five years now, Marivic manage a store where she sells variety of vegetables, spices, food seasonings, fruits, dried fishes and grocery items. Her products are well arranged and her customers can come in and pick the items they would like to buy. She has been renting the space for 6,000 pesos (£89.06) a month. Her store is open around 5 in the morning until 9 or 10 in the evening. She mostly manage the business alone but in the afternoon after her siblings are done with their work, they helped in the store. Marivic purchase her stocks in the town's public market almost everyday in order to replenish her lacking products. Her daily average sales is 4,000 pesos (£59.37) but she earn more during weekends.
To access more working capital for her business, Marivic became a member of the MFI-Lamac in 2018. This month, she applied for a larger loan and this is her fifth loan to the co-op. She will use the loan to restock her store with food items in order to maintain what she is selling everyday. This is a good way to keep her customers coming back at her store. Part of the loan is also used to finish the construction of her house.
Marivic is happy for the loan help, she and her husband was able to build their dream house for them to live in. She will repay the loan over the period of six months term.
