Esperanse

Esperanse Nyiransabimana is 54 years old and lives with her husband and seven children in the Muhoza Sector, Musanze District of Rwanda. All 4 of her children are doing well at school. 3 completed high school and will continue with their studies. Esperanse enjoys working with her husband on a daily basis in order to support the family.

Esperanse and her husband have been working as farmers for a long time. They specialised in potato farming 15 years ago. The couple are busy on their farm and often needs additional help from up to 18 temporary laborers during the growing season for their different farming activities.

Esperanse currently specializes in growing potatoes and rear cow that provides milk for her family and support her farming activity in producing manure that is used for fertilizers. She has therefore requested a loan so that she can invest 65% of the loan in high quality potato seeds, vitamins, fertilizers and pay the labors. She hopes that she can increase her yield to five tons of potatoes per harvest. With the increase in yield, she also expects an increase in the number of additional labors that will be required in preparing the land, planting the seeds, and helping with the harvest. So, she intends to set aside enough money to pay four labors. The remaining loan balance equal to 35% will be invested in purchasing one more cow and construct modern shelter for the cow. So that the cows have a better living condition. She promised to repay the loan within 10 months period without difficulties..
