Mrs. Vanny Pheap is a 35 year old married woman with four daughters aged between 16 and 8 years old, all of the children currently attend school. The family live in the Morng Russey District of Battambang Province where she and her husband have been farmers for the last ten years, farming wet season rice.
Mrs. Vanny Pheap and her husband have been farming wet season rice each year for over ten years as the source of income for the family. They have a paddy field which is two hectares in size and from which they get a crop yield of 3 tons of rice per hectare which is then sold to a local middle-man. In order to get more rice to sell to market she has now applied for a 36 month loan which will be used to purchase another plot of land 5000 square metres in size. They are expecting that this additional land will increase their rice for sale by 2 tons each year.
