To deal with their finances, Eden Ruth opened a general store business many years ago.
Ten years ago, Eden started a general store business in front of their house. She sells various commodities such as rice, corn, frozen foods, canned goods, poultry eggs, diapers, sodas, chips, biscuits, sweets and many more. She offers credit to some of her valued customers. Her store is open fourteen hours everyday and her average daily sales is 3,000 pesos (£46). For many years, Eden has also been engaged in raising pigs. She buys piglets and then looks after the pigs until they are fully grown and then resell it to meat stall owners in the market. This month, she plan to have twelve piglets.
Over a year ago, the couple started a business focus in refilling butane (gas) canisters. They are not the ones who refill the canisters because it is not allowed by the law. They have to bring those empty canisters to one of the legal butane (gas) refilling station found in Talisay city. From the refilling station, she automatically delivers the filled butane canisters to her regular customers found in different areas. She also have two peddlers who also distribute to store owners found in rural areas. Some of her regular customers pay her after one week from delivery date. Every week she needs to have a capital between 15,000 to 20,000 pesos (£229.46 to £306) to keep her butane business running.
She is currently processing the renewal of her annual business permits and licenses for her to keep operating the business.
Eden Ruth has been a member for three-year of the MFI-Lamac. She has repaid twelve previous loans and used it in various ways. Recently, she applied for another larger loan for different purposes.
