Cambodia
Loan description:
Vanny Chea owns a beauty salon in Haisan village, Chrey Commune, Battambang. She is 46 years old and married with four children. In fact, her shop offers a range of services, including renting clothes for special occasions, make-up for grooms, brides, and guests during weddings and other ceremonial occasions. She has operated and managed this business for the past two years from her own home. This offers the advantage that she can combine her work with other household tasks. Vanny also provides training to three trainees on styling and grooming. She charges for this service. In Cambodia, the custom is that the grooms, brides, and guests, wear traditional costume during the wedding ceremony. She thinks that in order to attract more clients she will need to update her stock with new costumes, equipment, and beauty accessories. Therefore, she has applied for a loan to buy new equipment and stock. She expects as a consequence to generate more income. She wants to use these funds to pay for her children's school fees, and buy a motorcycle (one of the most common forms of transport in Cambodia) for them to drive to school. Her husband has been ill for a long time and she also needs to pay for his treatment and medicines.
