Ecuador
Don Francisco is a widower from a rural community called San Gabriel in southeastern Ecuador. He has three adult and independent children who live in the capital city Quito.
Don Francisco started farming about 7 years ago when he bought a pregnant heifer with a loan from our local partner organisation Fundacion FACES. At present he has 7 head of cattle. When the animals reach a good weight they are sold to local wholesalers. The animals are kept on pasture. He requested a loan to pay two labourers to help him clear his pasture of weeds, nettles and thistles. The work is very labour-intensive and is done by hand. If you are lending, please be aware that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic your repayments could be at greater risk of delay or default.
