Jerson Miao is 35 years old and married with a three year old son. He runs a small mini-convenience store in Sangi, Toldeo City in Cebu. His sells a variety of consumer products such as rice, canned foods, and other snacks and soft drinks. He has been a member of the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for several years and has received and promptly repaid seven loans already. He has applied to receive another loan to purchase new stocks. He uses the loans as working capital to allow him to purchase stock as and when required. His customers are mainly his neighbours and although he has a regular set of customers, his market is actually quite limited. His aim is to expand his business and work from the public market some day. This will allow him to generate a better income and ensure that he can enrol his son at a better, fee paying, school.
