Mrs. Ley Kem is 40 years old and has been a farmer for 15 years. She married and they have four children all going to school. Three sons and one daughter. The sons are 13, 11 & 9. Her daughter is 7 years old. She lives with her family in Morng Russey District of Battambang Province. Their source of income to support their family is through their rice farming business.
Mrs. Ley Kem and her husband grow wet season rice paddy on one hectare farmland. The yield they get furing a good harvest is 3 tons of rice crop that they sell on the market. As the children are growing it is getting difficult to manage all their cost with one hectre of farmland. The couple wants to expand their rice farming business but they can't afford to buy more land with their limited income. So she applied for a 36 month's loan to buy a plot of farmland to double their wet season rice farmig and yield. The loan will be repayed in 36 equal installments.
