Peru
Germania is 46 years old; she is married and her husband is Walter. They have 2 children; they are 20 and 16 years old and both are studying. Their eldest is at the national university of Tumbes and their youngest is finishing school. Her husband works with the cargo transportation service. She lives with her family in their own house which is located in the populated centre of Cancas in the department of Tumbes in northern Peru.
Germania Cobeñas Jimenez set up her own grocery store in her house about 4 years ago selling basic household items such as vegetables, fruits, meats, cleaning products, biscuits, soft drinks etc. Her daily sales are approximately S/300 soles (~£70) and her profit margin is 25% of the sales income. Since her store is at home, she has no problem in opening her store at 8 am in the morning and closing it at 10 pm every day. Being home-based means she can also look after her house and her children.
Germania’s main customers are people from in and around her neighbourhood. She wants to expand the area of her store so that she can have enough space to make bulk purchases of the items she sells and have enough room to store them securely and have enough space so that her customers can move easily to check the shelves and buy the items they need.
Germania applied for a loan to invest a part of the money to buy the regular items she sells in her store. The majority of the loan money will go towards expanding the store so that she can have lots of space to store all the items she buys in bulk and have space so that she can install a couple of fridge freezers to keep some of the item cold. Germania hopes that this large loan will help her to make bulk purchases from the wholesalers and to increase her overall profit margins. She hopes with the help of Lendwithcare loans she will be able to grow her business, improve her income and support her children’s education.
