Brindisi Manugas is 44 years old and a mother of two adult children. Both her children are still single, her daughter is now teaching at public school while her son is attending apprenticeship. Her husband is called Eutiquio and he is a carpenter. To help her husband in dealing with their finances, she started a general store business twelve years ago.
As the years passed, Brindisi Manugas's business grew and now she sells more products mainly animal feeds. Before she sold B-meg feeds products but recently she transferred using Pigrolac feeds. Through the years she she managed to build up her customer's port filo by operating her business for many years. She offers credit to some of her trusted costumers and they pay her on a weekly or semi-monthly basis.
Every fifteen days Brindisi usually sells between 80 to 100 sacks of feeds. Mostly her animal feeds are directly delivered at her store. Her store is open daily and weekends are considered the busiest days. She hires one female during weekends and in days when she is not around to purchase her groceries to sell at her store. At her store she also sell basic commodities such as rice, corn, canned goods, noodles, food seasonings, powdered drinks, detergents, diapers and a lot more. Her daily sales is between 2,000 to 3,500 pesos (about £31 to £53.47) and she earn more during weekends.
Since 2013, Brindisi has been accessing loans to the MFI she is a member to called Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She successfully repaid eleven previous loans. Last month she sought a larger loan in order to finance her business. She will use the money to buy volumes of feeds to cater the needs of her customers. She will also buy grocery items to restock her store. Every purchase of her feeds she needs capital of 60,000 to 80,000 pesos (about £916.31 to £1222). She has to purchase in bulk and pay in cash in order to avail discounts from her supplier. Brindisi hopes and pray that with the help of the loan her business will continue to grow even more and earn more income for her to continuously deal with their household and other needs.
