Nayab Hassan is 26 years old and from an area called ‘Bin Road’ in the city of Kasur. He lives with his parents, his wife and three sons. Two of his sons are getting education while one is infant. His wife work as cobbler and earns £50 in a month.
Nayab Hassan is embroiderer and on average he earns around £95 per month. He does traditional embroidery work called ‘Silma Sitara’ which involves sewing beads and other decorations into intricate patterns on fabrics. He sells the finished cloth to retailers in different markets especially Ichra, Lahore. He sometimes uses his own designs while sometimes gets these from shopkeepers. He has been in this business for the past few years. He wants to produce and sell more in order to improve his family’s living standards. He has therefore, applied for a loan to buy cloth as well as beads shaped as pearls, stars, stones, lace and fancy yarn.
