Vivencia

Vivencia Aman is 54 years old, married with two adult children. Both her children are married and been living separately. Her one nephew who attends grade 4 is living with them. Her husband is called Napoleon and both of them are focused in their farming business to earn a living and deal with all of their family needs. The family lives in the village called Dumalan which is in the town of Dalaguete in Cebu province.

The couple have been growing various vegetables like eggplants, spring onions, tomatoes and chilli pepper. Vivencia cultivate two areas of land not too far from each other. It is a 5 minutes walking distance from her house to reach her farm. They owned the first area while the second area is owned by her sister-in-law and they are allowed to use the land for agricultural purposes. Vivencia is currently growing about 4,000 seedlings of aubergine and spring onions as well. On her other area she also grows about 4,000 seedlings of tomatoes and 2,000 seedlings of chilli pepper.

To help them in the farm, they sometime hire one to three people depending on the work to be done. Since they don't have their own vehicle yet to transport their harvested crops, her husband Napoleon uses public transport (motorcycle or multi-cab) depending on the kilos harvested to take their crops to the market to sell them. As of the moment, they are not harvesting any of their crops because the harvesting season is in December and January.

Vivencia is need of funds to finance all of her farming expenses. She recently became a member of the MFI, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative in order to access more funds. She will use the funds mainly to purchase bulk of fertilisers and crop protection products to ensure quality harvest of her crops. Vivencia will continue to work in their farm with the help of Napoleon as her partner so both of them can earn income and deal with their needs.
