Ecuador
Loan description:
Mary Maza has for the past three years managed a small shop in the town of Cariamanga in southern Ecuador. Previously Señora Mary sold chicken meat in the town centre but set up the shop because there were few shops in the neighbourhood and she thought she would earn more from the lack of competition. It is also more convenient for her because she can also look after her two daughters more easily - both are students in a local school. Señora Mary sells general household goods and foods. She requested a loan because she wants to buy new stock in bulk. Her husband and daughters help out at the shop and her husband has also provided investment from time to time. Señora Mary intends to repay the loan over 14 months.
