Voeurt Leng is 49 years old. Voeurt and her husband are greengrocers. They have been selling vegetables for more than 20 years, they get up each day at around 2 a.m. and take their produce to sell in bulk at Prektachreng and Boeng Chhouk markets. Afterwards, they visit other farmers in their village to negotiate prices and buy more stock. They have applied for a loan to be used as working capital, they intend to buy a greater variety and quantity of vegetables, including papaya, aubergines, Chinese green beans, corn, mango, cucumbers, cauliflower and Krosang (a type of fruit with a sour taste). Krosang is typically used to cook Cambodian sour soup and other traditional foods. They intend to repay the loan over twelve months.
