20 women who are all involved in small scale businesses - selling assorted groceries, gardening and clothes came up together to form the Lucky group of Choma. These women started their businesses to supplement their husbands incomes to provide for their families. They have 93 children jointly, the children are going school and some of the children help at the stalls when they are off.
The Lucky group is requesting their second loan that they will invest to order more stock so that they will be able to attract more customers to their shops.
Beauty Munachonda a member of the group has a garden growing assorted vegetables that she sells to people at the local market. She employs two men who help with the daily activities in her garden. The sale profits from her garden produce has helped to pay her children’s school fees and buy daily food for her family. As a woman she is self-sustaining, stand on her own and make decisions because her business made her a strong independent women.
