Chantha Sout is only 24 years old and she grows wet season rice. She farms 5 hectares that yield around 2 tons per hectare. However, she is also able to produce dry season rice. In addition, to earn an extra income for her household Chantha and her husband farm maize on a plot of land of 1.5 hectare. To continue farming rice and maize, they have applied to a twelve month loan to cover farming costs such as diesel for tractor, insecticide, weed killer, fertilizer, seeds of maize and rice and extra labour costs.
