Mrs. Davy Tom is a 32 years old rice farmer for over 10 years now and a mother of two school going children. She lives in a rural area and grows wet season rice. She has been rice farming since she lived with her parents and now she and her husband farm wet season rice. They wish to support their children to finish their university education.
To get more rice crops for sale on the market, they have borrowed a 24 month loan. They plan to purchase a hectare of rice paddy to grow some more wet season rice and expect to get the crops of four tones from this new farming land.
She and her husband have been farmers for 10 years now and they collect the rice crops on the land size of six hectares. They are able to collect the crops only once a year for a period of around six months. They are able to collect the crops of around three tones per hectare and sell these crops to their local middleman. They have been using their own tractor to plough the land for all these five years which has helped them to cut down some costs and plough the land on time.
