Bosse Abiala Fagbemi is a seller of food products such as milk, sugar, coffee, peanut oil, and eggs. She is 29 and lives in Oke Ata. She left school after the first year of Junior school and she would like her own children to get a full education. She is married to a welder and they have two children, aged nine and four. The eldest goes to school and the youngest will start the next school year she told us. In addition to this main activity, Bosse also sells pineapple. She buys her supplies at the Pobe market. Her shop is located along a road which has lots of passing trade. She applied for a loan repayable over 12 months to buy cartons of milk, sugar, coffee, 1 can of 100 liters of peanut oil and pineapples. Her hope for the future is to become a major shop owner and to be able to afford to travel to the capital, Cotonou to buy her stocks in bulk.
