Ponciana

Loan description:

Ponciana Tabares is a 38 year old farmer, married with two children age 10 and 14 years old. Both her children are attending school. Her husband Jonathan is 46 years old and both of them are managing their farming business. Ponciana has been farming since at her young years because her parents were also farmers. She grows short-cycle crops such as lettuce, onion springs and green chilli peppers. After being involved for many years in their business, they were able to build a new stable house made of concrete materials and galvanised iron. Their previous house in the farm is now used to keep safe their farm inputs. One of her farm land is located in her backyard while her new acquired farmland (250 sqm) which she pays rent of 6,000 pesos a year is a bit further out. The couple wakes up early in the morning to visit their farm to water their crops and pull out the weeds. Their source of water is from the bottom of the mountain, they use water pump to pull water up. She is now harvesting twice a week her chilli pepper, while her lettuce will be harvested end of this month.

Ponciana applied for her fourth loan to the MFI, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, wherein she is a member for four years now. She will use the loan to buy electric water pump, electric wire and hosepipe. These farm equipment and tools will be installed to her new rented farm. The couple will continue to work hard in their farm and earn more than the usual for them to continuously support their household needs. She promise to repay her loan over 12 months.
