Loan description:

Julie Delposo is 33 years old and married with four children aged between 10 and 13 years old. All of her children will attend the local school next month. She is married to Pedencio, who is 36 years old. The couple started their own farming business when they got married 13 years ago. Both of them know about farming as their parents were farmers too. They now have four different areas of land. In the first area they plant about 4,000 bell pepper seedlings. She expects their first harvest in the first week of July. On the second, third and fourth areas they grow cabbages, chinese cabbages and chilli peppers. She employs two full-time workers who will help them on the farm. She has no problem watering their crops. To earn a weekly income, Julie buys crops from her fellow farmers and sell to Mantalongon market. If they only harvest a few kilos, Julie will sell it in the nearest market but if they are blessed with a bountiful harvest she will sell it to Carbon market in Cebu city. To ensure a quality harvest of her crops, Julie applied for her first loan from Lendwithcare's microfinance partner Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She will buy 10 sacks of fertiliser for about 10,000 pesos (about £142), and crop protection products for about 6,500 pesos (about £93). She will use the rest of the loan money to pay her labourers. The couple will continue to work hard on their farm and pray for a good harvest so they can save to build a better and more stable house for their children. She promises to repay her loan over 6 months.
