Zambia
Loan description:
13 business women make up the Chibweze group of Kalomo district in the Southern province of Zambia. These women are between the age of 22 and 58 and have children who are in school. Some are married and other single and they also have school going orphans under their care. The group has undergone business management training and is now ready to apply for the first loan. They are excited to finally have access to these loans and they hope to see their businesses change.
Rosemary is a member of this group. She is 54 years old widowed and has five children who are in school. She runs a small grocery stall in her community selling washing soap, assorted sweets, sugar and roasted ground nuts. She started this business about 12 years ago so that she can be able to sustain the livelihood of her family. With the help of the loan she knows that she is not far from achieving her dream. She has requested for this loan to order more stock of the items she stocks and some of the things which have completely finished. She hopes to build a family house from the profits of her business for the family and she has hopes of being able to pay school fees for her children as they all just depend on her.
