Sophien Yim is 38 years old and married to Kunthy. Presently they have three children. They fourteen, ten and seven years old and all of them are at government school. Presently they live in Baydamram village, Chheu Theal commune, Banon district, Battambang province. Aside from being a government teacher, Sophien and his wife, Kunthy (shown in the photograph) farm two hectares of rice which yields them around three tons per hectare. They intend to keep around two ton of this rice for their own basic need and the rest of the crop will be sold to local traders. As their their capital is low they have taken a loan in order to pay for ploughing costs, buy fertilizer, insecticide, weed killer and other associated costs.
